As this season of High School is coming to an end and a new season is about to start, I have realized the importance of living in the moment. So often we become so distracted by our business that we are unable to appreciate all that is in front of us. We get trapped in a constant go, go, go; never taking a break or slowing down.

This mindset strips away the precious moment in front of you. I think we get so wrapped up in the expectations of the future, that we forget to appreciate all that God is doing in the present. We think we know what is best for our lives, so we feel the need to try to control it.

In my experience, having expectations for the way God is going to show up, provide, or work in our lives is not trusting Him to accomplish all that He is capable of accomplishing. When we put expectations on Him, we are limiting Him from working in our lives to His full potential.

We were not meant to understand or comprehend how everything is going to work within our lives because if we understand everything, then there wouldn’t be a true need to rely on God.

When we surrender our lives and allow God to work infinitely more than what is comprehendible for man, we will be wrapped with an abundance of blessings. It is in this full trust of the future, that we are able to fully live in the present.

I am learning to daily give up any expectations I have for God. I am choosing to surrender my own will in order to see Him work fully within my life. I am ending one chapter and getting ready to start another, and t can be so easy to put expectations on how fundraising should be going, on how this last month of senior year should look, and how I should be preparing for my next chapter in life. While planning on its own is not a bad thing, creating a plan that limits God is. I am choosing to daily pick up my cross of expectations in order to experience the fullness of Christ.

I am beyond excited to experience this next season of my life, but for now I will choose to appreciate every moment in this season:)
